Risk and compliance frameworks must therefore reconcile Indian Health Service credentialing rules with state Medicaid billing requirements that differ on telehealth parity and traditional healer reimbursement.
Risk Compliance Framework in South Dakota Providers must maintain dual documentation: IHS standards for cultural competency training plus South Dakota Department of Social Services licensing for clinical supervision hours. Any program incorporating traditional healing practices must secure tribal resolution and separate liability coverage, because state malpractice pools do not automatically extend to non-licensed traditional providers.
Application Requirements and Realities Proposals require letters of support from the tribal health director and the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners confirming that proposed supervision ratios meet both federal and state thresholds.
